George (Georgios) Xydis worked on various projects mainly in Greece that range from a single 10-kW turbine to a 486 MW offshore wind farm. He did work in the wind sector together with developers, utilities, universities, and research institutes. He holds a Ph.D in Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He used to work as a Wind Projects Development Coordinator at Rokas Renewables – Iberdrola Renewables, as a Wind Project Developer (Wind Resource & Siting Engineer) at Vector Hellenic Windfarms S.A., and as a Researcher (eq. Assistant Professor level) in the Center for Electric Power and Energy (CEE), Department of Electrical Engineering at Technical University of Denmark. He now runs his newly established Energy Research and Applications company (www.xydis.gr/gx) and collaborates with universities (a. NTUA, b. Hellenic Open University), research centers (a. the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, b. National Observatory of Athens) heading at the same time the Sustainable Energy Planning and Intelligent Energy Systems (SEPIES) research group of CETRI. He is a member of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) since 2009.
George Xydis is a National Representative of the European COST Action TU0902 "Integrated assessment technologies to support the sustainable development of urban areas", and a member of the Management Committee. He is also a Danish member of the Management Committee (MC) of the European COST Action TU1205 “Building Integration of Solar Thermal Systems (BISTS)”. He is a member of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) since 2009.
Being a certified WAsP user and having studied and developed more than 1700 MW of Renewable Energy Projects (mainly wind) we have gained significant experience in the sector so far and always continue to work on gaining more. We have dealt with site topography identification, correlation of short-term data with long-term data, estimation of energy production, design & energy output optimization, analysis of wind resource data from meteorological masts and maps, energy analyses, technical analyses, business plans etc.
Apart from renewable energy sector for some years now we have been involved in a number of EU research projects and fundraising actions.
